Mycroft Holmes (マイクロフト・ホームズ Maikurofuto Hōmuzu) is the Chief of the War Office's Intelligence Branch who entrusts the MI6 with assignments of national interest that can't be made public. He is also the older brother of Sherlock Holmes.
Appearance[]
Mycroft is a tall, adult man, and generally bears a strong physical resemblance to his younger brother, Sherlock. They both have the same dark blue hair and eyes.
Despite this, there are differences. Mycroft has much shorter hair and has a more stoic expression. This is in contrast to Sherlock's much longer hair and more expressive nature. Despite his more imperturbable nature, he is shown to be able to smile a little at times. He is also taller than Sherlock, with a height of 6'2" (188 cm).
Biography[]
Little is known about Mycroft's upbringing and background. He is the older brother of Sherlock Holmes, whom he has always had a competitive and clashing relationship with, though Mycroft cares deeply for Sherlock nonetheless.
His and Sherlock's mother is implied to have been part of the working class. Mycroft also had a Cockney accent that he eventually fixed.[1]
Origin[]
Mycroft is based on the character of the same name from the original Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, in which the character is also the older brother of Sherlock and works for the government.
In the Conan Doyle novels, Mycroft's knowledge and abilities exceed Sherlock's.
Trivia[]
- Mycroft came sixth in the first character popularity poll and tenth in the second poll.
- He owns a messenger pigeon named Charles Dickens, though Mycroft also calls him Charlie. Despite Mycroft being the bird's owner, it actually seems to prefer Albert over him.[2]
- He likes black coffee and dislikes idiots.[3]
- His current worry is that he has to spend 30 minutes styling his unruly hair every morning and yet it still gets too wavy in the evening.[3]
