MI6 is an officially nonexistent sixth branch of the British Military Intelligence that can operate without approval from the government.[1] It was established by Mycroft Holmes and originally led by Albert James Moriarty, but currently Louis James Moriarty is in charge of it.[2]
In the public eye, the headquarters operate as the "Universal Trading Company".[3]
Biography[]
The organization initally lacked the funding for the establishment of the MI6 and it was opposed by the parliament. After Albert manages to help the military intelligence obtain distribution routes for opium and gold however, Mycroft Holmes is able to found the sixth branch. He gives leadership to Albert as reward for his assistance.[1]
Albert takes the name of "M" and forms a team with the weapon specialist Von Herder, known as "Q". A former secret service agent, Moneypenny, acts as his secretary. Sebastian Moran and James Bonde become agents Number 6 and 7. Agents Numbers 1-5 are mentioned, but never seen or introduced. Whether or not they still work for MI6 is unclear.
After the execution of the Moriarty plan, Albert steps down from the MI6 voluntarily and chooses to be confined in the Tower of London. Following this, Louis decides to take over the organization and becomes the new face of "M".[2]
The MI6 is working together thanks to the support of Zack Paterson from within. William James Moriarty, Sherlock Holmes and Henry Antrim are transferred from Pinkerton to MI6 three years after Louis becomes the leader.[4]

Trivia[]
- The MI6, formally called the "Secret Intelligence Service" (SIS), is the foreign intelligence service of the United Kingdom. It's mainly tasked with collecting and analysing human intelligence from overseas for national security.
- Contradictory to Moriarty the Patriot's timeline, the MI6 was only founded in 1909.
- Ian Fleming uses the MI6 as the agency that employs James Bond in most of his novels and in adaptations. Fleming's MI6/SIS also operates under the cover-name "Universal Exports" and has a development division called the Q Branch.
