Moriarty the Patriot Wiki

Jack McGinty (ジャック・マクギンティ Jakku Makuginti) is a businessman who aquires land by force. He hired a group called "the Scowrers" who use violence and threats to drive people out of their towns.[1]

Appearance[]

Jack McGinty is an older man with stubble and slicked back, medium-length hair. He is dressed in a dark waistcoat over a white shirt with a white puff tie. When out, he's usually seen with a hat and a long, dark coat.

He has a knife holder on his boot which is hidden under his pants.

Personality[]

McGinty is a cruel and malicious person who only cares about getting the property he desires, with no care for human life. He can't empathize with the idea of being attached to land, only planning to use it to further capitalism and make profit. He often acts smug when intimidating others.

He is easily angered and impulsive, killing one of his own employees after they ran away instead of defending him in an argument. After a man confronts him, McGinty stabs him and has the scowrers randomly shoot into the crowd. When provoked, he frequently decides to have entire towns killed.

Despite his malevolent nature, he doesn't like to torture and lets his men do dirty work.

Biography[]

Nothing is known about his origin. In the past, he forcibly tried to aquired the town Fort Sumner in New Mexico. After a few of the people attacked the scowrers, McGinty decided to have everyone killed. The sheriff, P. J. Garrett, begged them to let the people live and offered himself up. McGinty had him brutally beaten and displayed in the streets.

Years later, he aims to aquire the land of Vermissa in Pennsylvania. He plans to build a big road through the middle of the town for business and profit. McGinty offers a pitiful sum for the property and intimidates the townspeople with violence and killings.

To defend themselves, the people of Vermissa hire guards to protect them. The United States Department of Justice task Sherlock Holmes and Henry Antrim to save the town and so the two go under disguise of being guards. Sherlock drives one of McGinty's men out of the town and provokes McGinty to launch an assault on the town with the goal to kill everyone.

Although having the majority in manpower, they lose the battle and McGinty is confronted by Billy. The two have a duel but he loses and McGinty accepts his fate. When Billy doesn't kill him, McGinty questions and provokes him, but Billy refuses to shoot in the end.

McGinty is tied up and arrested.
