Moriarty the Patriot Wiki

Gregson (グレッグソン, Guregguson) is an assistant inspector in Scotland Yard.[1]

Appearance[]

Gregson is an adult man with short, brown hair that is parted to the side and green eyes. He wears a suit consisting of a jacket and waistcoat with a white shirt and tie.

Personality[]

Gregson is bad-tempered and prone to getting angry quickly, especially when people point out his status as "assistant" inspector. Even when he tries to be smug, he is easily irritated by snarky remarks.[1] Unlike other people, he's also not swayed or convinced by Sherlock's deduction skills.[1]

Despite his rough demeanor and the habit of impulsively accusing people, he still seems to value the truth and justice. He's able to be grateful to Sherlock when he helps solve a case, though he tries to keep the strict facade.[2]

Biography[]

A Study In "S"[]

Gregson shows up at 221B in Baker Street when Sherlock is arrested for suspicion of murdering Enoch J. Drebber. He's happy to finally arrest Sherlock, but the latter mocks him.[1]

At the Investigation Headquarters in Scotland Yard, he presents all the found evidence and is convinced Sherlock is the culprit. After this, he interrogates John and Miss Hudson.[1]

He accompanies Lestrade and Sherlock when they take a look at the corpse and crime scene. He listens to Sherlock's deduction and explanation of the case, but dismisses it and accuses him of lying. Gregson is infuriated and confused by Sherlock's escape when they leave with a carriage.[1]

Later on, Gregson is shocked when Sherlock Holmes brings the actual culprit, Jefferson Hope, to Scotland Yard.[3]

The Sign of Mary[]

Gregson is sent as the responsible detective to the crime scene of Bartholomew Sholto's murder. Since his twin, Thaddeus Sholto, was the last person to see him, Gregson immediately accuses him of being the culprit and takes Thaddeus back to the station for interrogation.[4]

Later, after Sherlock, John and Lestrade manage to chase and apprehend the real murderer, Jonathan Small, Gregson is present at the scene. Sherlock tells him that he may finally get his promotion with this case, but Gregson dismisses it and takes his leave. He hesitantly thanks Sherlock for the help.[2]

Origin[]

Tobias Gregson is a character from the original Sherlock Holmes novels. He and Lestrade are assigned to investigate the murder of Enoch J. Drebber.
