Fred Porlock[2] (フレッド・ポーロック, Fureddo Pōrokku) is an agent of the MI6 and one of William James Moriarty's closest allies. He is the informant of the group and skilled in taking on disguises.

Appearance[]

Fred is young man who is notably smaller than his allies, standing at 168 cm. He has messy black hair, pale skin and grey eyes. His build is slim and he has bandages wrapped around both his forearms, ending just before his wrists.

He is usually seen wearing a long-sleeved white dress shirt with rectangle cufflinks tucked into blue pants, which are held up by Y-back suspenders. He wears a black coat over his shirt and has a light blue scarf around his neck that can double as a hood.

He has a pen and notebook tucked into the breast pocket of his shirt, which he uses to write down information when looking for crimes related to nobles.

Personality[]

Fred is rather quiet and 'unsociable' as Moran calls him when he first appears. He rarely talks unless prompted, except when reporting or adding a comment to an ongoing conversation or event.

His thin physique and reserved presence makes him excellent at disguising himself and playing characters, dressing up as Frida in The Dancers On The Bridge, the murdered man in The Noahtic and an old lady in A Study In 'S'. He's mainly the one spying and reporting to the Moriarty group, collecting information and keeping watch on the activities of other parties.

Despite seeming withdrawn, he is a gentle and kind person at heart, shown when he expressed a strong desire to save the kidnapped children that were being killed on on the Baskerville's property. Moran says that among the group, Fred is the one most similar to William, in that both are unable to leave someone in need alone.

Although he is a reticent person, he is one of the only people who speaks up to William about him having to die for the Moriarty plan. Fred is convinced that what William does is justice and that there is no reason for him to lose his life, becoming determined to save him and betraying the group by writing a letter to Sherlock Holmes to ask for his help. Even when Louis confronts him about it, Fred remains firm in his belief.

Trivia[]

  • Fred is very adept at combat, being able to use one-handed weapons as well as fight in bare-handed combat against even people like Sherlock who are trained in martial arts. He is agile and very quick, able to jump considerable heights and flee scenes swiftly.
  • Fred came fifth in both the first and second character popularity polls.
  • He's the only member of Moriarty's group whose birth place, age, & date of birth are all listed as or with a "?".[1]
