The Phantom of Whitechapel Act 1 (ホワイトチャペルの亡霊 第一幕 Howaito Chaperu no Bourei Dai Ichi Maku) is the fifteenth episode of MORIARTY THE PATRIOT anime series.
Synopsis[]
After receiving a new name, Bonde is welcomed amongst the ranks of the Moriartys. He's sent to retrieve the contents of a safe deposit box alongside Sebastian, Louis and Fred. However, when an unexpected bank heist turns a simple job into a chaotic one, everyone spurs into spontaneous action. Bonde can only wonder what to do as everything spirals out of control around him.
Summary[]
Prostitutes across Whitechapel have been getting murdered by the infamous, Jack the Ripper, one of the greatest criminals Great Britain has ever known. Sebastian refuses to accept Irene as James Bonde until he proves himself to be of some kind of use. William sends them all on an errand to retrieve something from a safe deposit box but just as they arrive, thieves begin robbing the bank.
Bonde hesitates to act, a natural reaction to the chaos. However, Sebastian uses the opportunity to claim Bonde has a lack of initiative. He asks Bonde what should their course of action be. Bonde realises the need to protect the contents inside the safe deposit box while protecting the hostages from the robbers in a way that does not attract Holmes attention. Bonde proceeds to do just that, neutralizing the bank robbers and setting up a policeman as the hero of the day so as not to expose themselves.
Upon returning, they meet Jack Renfield, the army's greatest close-quarters combatant. Codenamed Jack the Ripper, he was an assassin who taught Sebastian and the Moriarty brothers how to fight and kill. The safe deposit box contains Jack's knives. He takes them back and reveals that a serial killer has been using his alias, which is why he asked William to help him put an end to the copycat.
The residents of Whitechapel has divided themselves into two factions, a Vigilance Committee that is hunting the killer, and the police of Scotland Yard, who are more interested in disbanding the committee than catching the killer. Unlike the Yard, William quickly figures out that Jack the Ripper can't possibly be a lone psychotic killer, and that the murders are actually the work of a group of killers.
