A Scandal in the British Empire Act 2 (大英帝国の醜聞 第二幕 Daieiteikoku no Shūbun Dai Ni Maku) is the thirteenth episode of MORIARTY THE PATRIOT anime series.
Synopsis[]
Albert follows William's plan and invites Irene Adler, a potential royal wedding crasher, to a masquerade party. The event features a "Lord of Crime" themed game that allows Irene to crossdress and hide in plain sight. She uses the opportunity to contact Albert and pleads for her safety in return for the documents stolen from Mycroft Holmes.
Summary[]
Louis, William, and Albert share the same goal, as well as the same past, present, and future. Together the three brothers are "James Moriarty".
Albert organizes a masquerade ball based around a riddle-solving game called the "Lord of Crime". One guest will be named the Lord of Crime and attempt murder, eliminating whoever he choose from the party. The guest who is murdered must remove his mask and relocate to the second floor after donating the most costly item on him. Once the Lord of Crime is determined, he will "die" and the game comes to an end.
Another attendee tells a masked Albert they must do their best to win the game. Unknowingly, Albert makes an enemy of the man deemed the Lord of Crime, Baron Ronald Rollinson. While on the dance floor, Albert is made the first victim after wine is splashed on him. He accepts the punishment gracefully and donates his ring before heading upstairs.
A cross-dressing Irene goes upstairs to talk with Albert alone. He asks her to return the documents from the palace, but she has conditions. Her crimes must be overlooked and her safety guaranteed. On behalf of the British government, Albert refuses. Albert's mission is to kill her, but on a personal level he's decided not to. He speculates as to why Irene choose not to do anything after the theft, and concludes that the contents of the paper are more than she can handle. Irene knowing something of this magnitude can't simply be overlooked by the government. However, Albert still desires to help save her. He learns the truth about what is in the papers and laughs. It's a scandal concerning the entire British Empire and not just the royal family. Irene questions if he is really able to save her, which leads to Albert demonstrating his power. Since he is the organiser of the ball, Albert knows that Baron Rollinson is designated as the Lord of Crime, and has pronounced the punishment of death upon him for his sins. Albert admits that It's all planned from the start, and that he is the real Lord of Crime, James Moriarty.
Irene returns to Sherlock's home, which suddenly explodes. Sherlock and Watson claim a bomber was looking for Irene, tricking her into retrieving the documents, revealing the British government secretly started the French Revolution. Albert also shares this fact with William, who decides they must have the documents. Irene explains she had been trying to change society, so she stole something to blackmail the monarchy with. However, it ended up being too much for her to handle. Irene tells them that she is going to turn over the documents to the government, which is going to guarantee her safety.
Although Sherlock returns the documents to Irene, he knows that she is lying. He then reveals to Watson and Miss Hudson that he has deduced that Irene is actually planning to hand the documents over to the Lord of Crime.
