A Scandal in the British Empire Act 1 (大英帝国の醜聞 第一幕 Daieiteikoku no Shūbun Dai Ichi Maku) is the twelfth episode of MORIARTY THE PATRIOT anime series.
Synopsis[]
Director Mycroft Holmes orders Albert to uncover classified documents that could shake the foundation of the very nation and ruin the life of the woman who stole them. Meanwhile, Sherlock Holmes is hired by the Bohemian King to track down Irene Adler, the very same woman who stole the papers, who now threatens the royal wedding as well.
Summary[]
Mycroft visits his younger brother, Sherlock, and warns him to be wary of the dangers women present. Sherlock listens and then reveals to Watson that his elder brother, Mycroft, is responsible for running the British Government.
Mycroft summons Albert Moriarty, who still retains his rank of lieutenant colonel despite his ties to William James Moriarty. Mycroft orders Albert to find a woman who stole classified documents. Her name is Irene Adler, a former actress with connections to both nobility and the criminal underworld. Albert's mission is not only to recover the stolen papers, but to assassinate the thief as well. The first thing Albert seems to notice is Irene stole the documents without blackmailing anyone or demanding a ransom.
Meanwhile, Sherlock and Watson meet with their next client, Bohemian King Wilhelm. The King is to be wed soon to his fiancée but he has been less than faithful. Irene Adler possesses photographs of his infidelity and is threatening to reveal them. Sherlock is offered £1000 to retrieve the pictures from Irene.
Afterward, the King removes his disguise and privately reveals himself to be Irene Adler. She knows Sherlock is coming so she sets a trap by hiding the photographs and setting her own house aflame. While Irene announces she will be living in Holmes' place from now on, William is looking in from another building, having predicted that Irene's real goal is to get close to Sherlock himself in order to protect her life.
While out shopping with Sherlock, Irene jumps into the sewage canal to save a girl, who was being bullied for aspiring to be an actress. Sherlock is surprised to find that his profile of Irene is shattered, and she is actually a woman who will risk her life to save a young girl from adversaries within the nobility.
After arriving at their residence, someone bumped into Irene, and he seems to know her. As Irene watches him leave, she is shocked to find a letter tucked under her jacket.
