The Two Detectives Act 2 (二人の探偵 第二幕 Futari no Tantei Dai Ni Maku) is the eleventh episode of MORIARTY THE PATRIOT anime series.
Synopsis[]
With 48 minutes remaining before the train reaches the next station, Sherlock declares that William and he can find the murderer in time. Sherlock relies on the evidence at the scene, while William pursues a psychological profile of the killer.
Summary[]
John H. Watson explains that he noticed the blood on him after returning from the bathroom where someone had bumped onto him. The train police comes and sees the blood on John and wants to arrest him; however, George Lestrade introduces himself along with Sherlock Holmes and John H. Watson and asks the police to leave it to them to solve the case while also stating that John isn't a man who would commit a murder. Louis whispers to William James Moriarty telling him that the murder wasn't orchestrated by them and they shouldn't get involved, however William wishes to get involved as an innocent man, John, is being framed. Sherlock explains that with the train's speed, they have 48 minutes before reaching the next station and the murderer escaping. The train police agree to leave it to them, but they still take John into custody.
Inspecting the crime scene, Sherlock finds the victim's name to be Trevor Redwood, a jeweller from London. He sees two type of footprints and as one has mud on it, he knows the murderer came from Durham station as it was raining there. He also states the man was drugged and killed with a knife, and William finds the bottle with whiskey which has the faint aroma of chloral mixed in. They believe it was meant to be a theft, but the victim woke up and the man ended up killing him with a knife, which is likely still in his possession. There is also indication that someone tried to stop the man's bleeding, but as the victim's hands are not in blood, it must have been the murderer. William decides to find the murderer in a different way and create a psychological profile for him.
William explains that the killer went to the bathroom to throw away the knife and key from the windows as passenger windows do not open. He also went there to wash off the blood as he couldn't throw away his clothes. Sherlock realizes the shoes footprint belong to a crewmen and with that he can easily offer a drink to the victim and couldn't throw away his jacket and gloves, which are individually monogrammed.
As both William and Sherlock make same deductions, Sherlock gathers all six crewmen. He then makes the two with shoe size ten to step up and inspects their gloves, they find that Eddie Hawthorne's have blood on them. Eddie denies being the killer and explains the blood is his own as he cut himself and takes the gloves off to show his wounds. Sherlock knows he had cut himself to cover the victim's blood, but doesn't have other proof to support his conclusion. William then steps up and wonders why he has blood on his eyeglasses, which can only get there if he is the killer. William explains there is more proof and that he can start listing it if Eddie wants. Eddie then confesses and explains he never meant to kill him.
Louis is impressed that William managed to spot the small blood. William explains it's due to being his own blood. As he knew Sherlock would call all crewmen, he spoke with each one of the before that and touched each on different places leaving blood marks. William states that Eddie would have been found guilty in a trial, and while his solution was faster, it was outside the law. Later, Sherlock makes a bad attempt to apologize to John, but John accepts it and agrees to continue be his partner.
At the Buckingham Palace, Mycroft Holmes informs the queen that important documents were stolen and she orders him to get them back at any cost.
