Countess Moriarty (モリアーティ伯爵夫人 Moriāti Hakushaku Fujin) is the mother of Albert James Moriarty and the original William James Moriarty and the wife of Earl Moriarty.
Appearance[]
Countess Moriarty is an adult woman with long, light brown hair usually tied in a bun. Between her children, only William seems to have inherited his appearance from her, sharing her hair and eye color; while Albert resembles his father.
Personality[]
Countess Moriarty never liked the idea of getting orphans due to "noblesse oblige" and knew that her husband would take an orphan only to look good in the Duchess' eyes. Her negativity increased when she learned that they were taking two orphans, but was never able to change her husband's mind.
Countess Moriarty is also shown to despise the two orphans to the point that she even began physically abusing them. This is seen where she would strike them in their wrists using a riding crop, or outright slap them in the face after being agitated by her biological son, William.
History[]
Learning that Earl Moriarty wants to take in an orphan, she wonders why as they already have two sons. She quickly realized it was due to the Duchess and her husband wanting to look good in her eyes, but the Earl refused to change his mind.
When she learned they were taking two orphans she argued with her husband again, especially as one of them was sick and William complained that he may get his disease. The Earl still refused to change his mind.
After some time, she again complained and wanted to throw them out as it had been enough time; however, the Earl explained that he would look bad if they threw them out now.
Alongside her youngest son, Countess Moriarty is killed by the orphans William and Louis along with her eldest son, Albert, when she is strangled by Albert and then left in the burning Moriarty mansion.
In the anime, Countess Moriarty is killed differently. Instead of being strangled by Albert and attempting to assist her younger son in trying to frame the two orphans for stealing silver, she is instead shown to have burned to death with her husband while sleeping in bed.
