The Final Problem Act 8 (The Final Problem Act 8 最後の事件 第八幕, The Final Problem Act 8 Saigo no Jiken Dai Hachi Maku) is the 55th chapter of the MORIARTY THE PATRIOT manga series.
Summary[]
William calls Sherlock the devil, attacking him with his sword. A series of memories with the two flashes by before they begin to fight on top of the bridge.
From a distance, Louis and Moran watch on. Louis has realized that William has always reassured his worth in the world, so he has made the decision to live on. He recognizes that just one person is enough to keep going— hoping Sherlock will be that someone for William.
Sherlock and William end their brawl, but Sherlock is insistent that death is no atonement and that he should not run away. He offers to atone together, yet William simply bids farewell. Moran sets off an explosive that causes William to fall, but Sherlock catches him by the wrist.
When William is confused, Sherlock tells him that he's his friend. He has read the letter and reassures him that they've felt the same way for one another since the start, begging him to live on and protect the world he created like he will. William admits defeat, calling him "Sherly" before making Sherlock let go to ensure his survival.
William smiles at Sherlock as he falls, the latter refusing to let him die alone and jumping after him. Sherlock catches him mid-air, happy that he's "finally caught him" and saying that they should both live on. The two fall into the Thames and vanish, the morning sun rising on the horizon.
